Congratulations on your internship! Securing an internship abroad will be a rewarding and great experience. I think the most important and obvious skill you will gain is the international experience. Being able to understand and experience first-hand how a company operates internationally will be beneficial for your future career, especially if your future career involves working for a company with international locations. I would take the time to truly understand the differences between business operations in a foreign country compared to the U.S. Being able to intelligibly speak to this will be great experience. You will likely hit some road bumps when learning to navigate the waters so I would encourage you to use this as an opportunity to showcase how you dealt with ambiguity.

Congratulations! Working abroad will be a very unique experience and there will be plenty of opportunities to develop your skills. You will already be differentiating yourself through completing an international internship but it is important to get the most out of your time there. I would be sure to understand the differences between how business is conducted abroad in comparison to the United States. It could also be beneficial to try and grasp the language of wherever you are because that could equip you with another set of skills. There will be plenty to learn while interning abroad but I encourage you to soak in as much information regarding business, culture, language, etc. and you will truly be able to differentiate yourself and gain a unique set of skills. Also, many companies have international locations or conduct business overseas and this could only help make you more marketable in those situations. Hope this helps!

This is such an amazing opportunity! The experiences and skills that you gain during this internship can definitely be utilized going forward whether it be finding your next internship or joining a global company. Living and working in an international environment will allow you to develop your skills in working with cultures other than your own, being flexible, dealing with ambiguity, operating outside of your comfort zone, and so much more. To utilize the experience as much as possible, make sure you ask a lot of questions! Really try to dig deep and understand how your company works within the home countries markets as well as their connection to the global market. What differences or similarities are there compared to the United States? Ask them what makes someone a good leader or qualities they value in employees. You may get different answers than if you were to ask a leader in the US. I hope you have a fantastic time and learn a lot. Congratulations!
