My job interviews seem to be going nowhere. I just started in my field. I've been working since I graduated, but my last project was mid-2016. Since, I've done small jobs with companies, but I'm still looking for a full-time position. People seem to question why I got away from my degree and into something new. What should I say when I answer?

I am sorry to hear that your job interviews are not going well. I think you are saying that you are taking any jobs/projects to keep yourself busy and bring in money, however, they are not in your field. I would be honest and let interviewers know that you are trying to find a position in your field; however, the market has been tougher than anticipated. I would let them know that you are keeping yourself current, therefore, doing projects until the opportunities present themselves. I would also try to target companies that have positions in your career and be open to taking an entry level job and maybe something not directly related to your field to get your foot in the door. Stay positive and keep looking for all the roads that can possibly lead to your ideal job. It is tough when you are just starting out, so be open minded. Good luck.
