If outside experience and critical thinking is increasingly becoming more and more important, why is more schooling and getting a master's degree becoming essential in securing a job?

Your question is interesting. Critical thinking and experience will be very valuable as you move forward in your career. In some cases it might be necessary to pair experience and critical thinking with an advanced degree. In may companies and functions however, an undergraduate degree along with internship experiences that help you develop a number of competencies will be more valuable than solely focusing on an advanced degree. To determine the best course for you, consider your career goals and the type of entry position that will set you on the right path. Do your career goals and the entry level positions you are considering require and advanced degree because of the technical nature of the work or are there other special skills that you will best gain through advanced education? If the answer is "no" keep up your search you will undoubtedly come across many positions and companies that will have opportunities for you.  Good luck your search.

Great question! I think that the assumption that an advanced degree is essential in securing a job is not true for all fields of work. Many employers more strongly value experience and critical thinking over an advanced degree. Having hands on experience will help set you up for success more than experience in a classroom. When applying for jobs, take the time to understand the position and if it truly does require an advanced degree. I think you will find that an advanced degree is sometimes preferred, but not required. If your field of work does typically require an advanced degree, I would ensure that you are also gaining experience outside of the classroom. Having this additional experience will help set you up for success and be able to hit the ground running in your career after graduation.
Best of luck!
