Is it really necessary to send a thank you note after the interview?

Ah yes, the thank you note.  Well, do you want to separate yourself from the pack?  Do you think people appreciate gratitude? Do you want to remind a recruiter or hiring manager why you are the best person for the job?  Those all seem like legit reasons to write a quick thank you note/email. 

I have always appreciated the follow up and that the initiative was taken to make the gesture.  And why not!  You want this job, let them know how awesome you'll be as a new employee!

Great question!! A thank you note is a great way to set yourself apart from others. Following up an interview is a nice way to remind the company that you are still interested in the position after meeting everyone. The note does not need to be long, just something quick to say thank you. Good luck with your search!

I agree with my fellow Hiring Experts on this one. Sending a thank you note is always a great way to set yourself apart and will certainly not hurt your chances of getting the job. Feel free to take this opportunity to not only thank them, but to make yourself stand out and be unique while showing you value. But before sending it make sure your message is clear and thought out, no one wants catch any errors or typos. Consider this thank you letter as evidence of your work product and the detailed care you put into creating it and editing it. Also, send out your thank you note the same day as your interview if possible. The perfect time to capitalize on the momentum you gained during the interview and never know how fast they will make a decision!
